The Cooperstown Fire Department is a public organization, funded in part by the Village of Cooperstown, and fire taxes from protection districts in the towns of Middlefield, Otsego, Springfield and Exeter. The Department cannot survive on public funds alone, and utilizes donations from the community to fund community education, equipment purchases, supplies and events for members. Donations of goods, services, funds and time are all appreciated and used for the good of the community and the Department. SupportFiremen's Fellowship FundThe Fund has grown immensely, much of it through the hard work of Past President Al Keck. The Fund provides emergency short term loans to department members and their families who demonstrate need.Equipment Fund DriveThis annual Fund Drive is usually held during the winter, and includes a mailing to all district residents. Donations received during this annual drive support major equipment purchases for the Department's Fire, Rescue and EMS needs.July 4th FireworksFor many years, the Department has sponsored the July 4th Fireworks over Otsego Lake. Sponsored entirely by local businesses and individuals, the fireworks are visible to all of the lake's residents, as well as the many boaters that take to the water. See the events calendar for this year's fireworks date.Goods and ServicesThe Department accepts donations for use as prizes at special events. Local businesses and individuals have contributed to the Children's Christmas Party, the Firemen's Candlelight Ball, and the Family Picnic.
